Ernest Jackson Owen, 79, of Hollywood, MD died May 19, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born May 13, 1934 in Bushwood, MD, he is the son of the late Henry Mastin Owen and Mary Jane Pingleton Owen.

Ernest graduated from Great Mills High School on June 13, 1952. He proudly served in the United States Army from December 6, 1956 until his honorable discharge on December 5, 1958.

He married his beloved wife, Eva "Susie" Owen and together they spent over 50 wonderful years together. He was self-employed as a commercial truck driver until his retirement in 2002. He was an avid gardener. However, his greatest love was his family; he enjoyed spending his time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Charles Owen (Debbie) of Hollywood, MD and Robby Owen (Tammy) of Mechanicsville, MD; his siblings, Elizabeth Cross of California, MD, Earl Owen (Freda) of Goldsborough, NC, Thomas Owen (Young Jo) of Gainesville, GA, Paul Owen of Houston, TX, and Norma Teachout (Pat) of Opal, FL; his grandchildren, Charlie Owen, Jr., Kelly Owen Sapp, Greg Owen, Kayleen Owen, and Dylan Owen; and his great-grandchildren, Charlie Owen III, Morgan Owen and Addison Owen.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Tammy Lynn Owen and his brother, Richard Owen.

Family will receive friends on Friday, May 24, 2013 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with prayers recited at 7 p.m., at the Brinsfield Funeral Home, P.A., 22955 Hollywood Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 10:00 by Reverend Sheldon Reese at Brinsfield Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD.
