![]() Kathleen "Kathy" Kelly, 64 of California, MD died April 22, 2013 at MedStar St. Mary's Hospital. Born December 14, 1948 in Washington, DC she was the daughter of the late Lauchlin A. Kelly, Jr. and Bessie E. (Freeman) Kelly.
After graduating college, Kathy taught at Great Mills High School and coached Great Mills women's sports teams to championship seasons. Kathy was also an involved member of the Southern Maryland Softball leagues where she was a player on championship teams. She also loved to play golf. Kathy was an FBI Supervisory Special Agent (SSA). She participated in numerous high level investigations including the World Trade Center bombings in both 1993 and September 11, 2001. Her family is very proud of her accomplishments and her service to the country through the FBI. Kathy always loved Southern Maryland and chose to retire here in 2005. She appreciated the maritime atmosphere of the area and had a fondness for the works of local artists who portrayed scenes of the various waterfront areas in St. Mary's County. Kathy is survived by her brother, Lauchlin A. Kelly III of Crossville, TN. She is also survived by her three nieces of whom she was especially proud, Heather McDonald, Bridget Kelly and Kaitlin Kelly. Family will receive friends on Friday, May 3, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Brinsfield Funeral Home, 22955 Hollywood Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the Brinsfield Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, MD.
