Michael Joseph Middleton of Waldorf, MD died on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Calvert County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Prince Frederick, MD of melanoma. He was born March 30, 1951 in La Plata, MD.

Son of the late Ernest A. Middleton, Jr. and Mary Evelyn Lorenz Terrien. He is survived by his beloved, Patricia Gallagher of Waldorf and family Tina Detwiler and her husband Doug of Leonardtown, Lisa Stelacone and her husband Jay of Lothian, Robert Gallagher and his wife Jacqueline of North Attleboro, MA; grandchildren, Steven and David Detwiler, Michael, Nicolas, and Timothy Stelacone, Sam and Kate Gallagher; his sisters, Suzanne Carr of Waldorf and Anne Toptsidis; his brother, Jimmy Middleton; his aunts and uncle, Milly and Perley Waters of Waldorf; Ann Vetkoskey of Waldorf, and Anna L. Breitenbach; and numerous cousins.

Michael graduated from Archbishop Neale Catholic School in 1969 and was an altar server for 12 years at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Plata, MD. He attended College of Southern Maryland for two years and then worked for PEPCO/Mirant Power Plant in Alexandria, VA, retiring after 39 years of service.

Michael was an avid sportsman all his life. In addition to playing softball, he enjoyed coaching, beginning with the Potomac River Bandits and women's softball teams for many years and for the last eight years, he coached his grandsons' Little League teams. In his later years, golf had been his joy and he has made many friends through his love of sports. Michael has always loved attending sports games, especially taking his grandsons to Penn State and Ravens football games.

Visitation on Sunday, April 21, 2013 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM with Wake Service at 7PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, April 22, 2013 at 10AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 201 St. Mary's Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. Interment at a later date at St. Peter's Catholic Church Cemetery in Waldorf, MD.
