John Luther Donaldson Sr., of Charlotte Hall, Maryland, formerly of Marbury, died on Friday, April 5, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital in Leonardtown. He was 77 years old. Born on August 24, 1935 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Gladys R. and the late Leonard F. Donaldson.

Mr. Donaldson served in the U. S. Army. He worked in the roofing trade before becoming a Contract Supervisor with the U. S. Navy at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Indian Head.

A self-taught guitarist, Mr. Donaldson was a lead singer and played lead guitar with the bluegrass band known as "Low Profile". He also enjoyed woodworking and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Emma Jean Donaldson; his sisters Alice Fines and Louise Powell; his brother Leonard Leroy Donaldson Jr.

He is survived by his children John L. (Luke) Donaldson Jr. and his wife Tina of Newtown, VA, Mark Wayne Donaldson and his wife Joan of La Plata, Tina E. Wilson and her husband Wayne of California, MD; his sisters Virginia Richardson, Rose Hashman and Patricia Chadwick; his brothers Charles Donaldson, Tommy Donaldson, Albert Donaldson, and Hank Donaldson; his grandchildren Angela Hoffman, Jeremy Donaldson, Hannah Donaldson, Lauren Donaldson, Zachary Donaldson, Timothy Presnell and Kristin Boswell; his nine great grandchildren and the one on the way; also survived by his numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 from 2PM to 4PM and from 6PM to 8PM with Prayers offered by 7PM by Pastor Max Burton at the Raymond Funeral Service, P.A. 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, Maryland 20646.

Service on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 beginning at 10AM at the Anchor Baptist Church, 10440 Crain Highway (Route 301), Faulkner, Maryland 20632 with Pastor Robert Joseph officiating.

Pallbearers are Jeremy Donaldson, Zachary Donaldson, Chuck Bonn, Wayne Wilson, Timothy Presnell and Jason Boswell.

Interment to follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf, Maryland.
