![]() Aubrey Francis Mattingly, 75, of Leonardtown, MD passed away on Friday April 5, 2013 at St. Mary's Nursing Home in Leonardtown, Maryland. Born September 4, 1937 in Leonardtown, MD, he was one of seven children born to the late Lester A. Mattingly, Sr. and Madeleine (Bussler) Mattingly.
Aubrey attended elementary school at St. Mary's Academy, Leonard Hall Junior Naval Academy and was a 1956 graduate of St. Mary's Academy. Aubrey's no-nonsense with a side of humor approach fueled the passion of his life's work as an excavation contractor which began when he was a young man working side by side with his father and brothers. He continued the family business and later worked with his own sons. He also served in the National Guard. He loved his "choir girls" at St. Aloysius Church whom he traveled with and shared many Saturday evening meals. Aubrey could be found every Christmas season passing out poinsettias and a token bottle of "happiness" to all the special people in his life. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Victoria Neale Paul Mattingly. Aubrey and Vicky's life together was full of many blessings including their three children, Renee Davey (Patrick), Aaron Mattingly (Carla) and Travis Mattingly (Mischelle) and his four grandchildren Dakota Davey, Lauren Davey, Sara Anne Mattingly, and Christopher Mattingly.
