Thelma Jean Hamann, 81, formerly of Largo, MD passed away peacefully March 2, 2013 at her home in Mechanicsville, MD. Born September 21, 1931 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late James Karl Curtis and the late Vivian May Wheatley.

She was married to Henry W. Hamann who passed away in 2010 after a long illness.

She was predeceased also by her brother James C. Curtis.

During her life Thelma enjoyed a good laugh, great food, the company of good friends and family as well as traveling, playing bingo and her weekly Frappe. She was retired from the Department of Agriculture, US Federal Government.

She is survived by her son and daughter -in-law Michael and Deborah Hamann of Mechanicsville daughter, Valerie Beatty of Albuquerque, grandchildren Danielle and Cory Powell and Dustin Hamann , two great-grandchildren, Eligh and Jolie Powell.

The family will receive friends for Thelma's Life Celebration Gathering on Monday, March 11 2013 from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m, followed by Service at 6:30 pm at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD. Reverend F. Paul Liersemann will officiate. Private Burial will follow at Maryland Veterans' Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, MD 20623.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hospice of St.Mary's, P. O. Box 625 Leonardtown, Maryland 20650.
