Joan Kathryn Hourigan, 77, of Odenton, MD formerly from Syracuse, NY, passed away on February 7, 2013 in Odenton, MD. Born on October 20, 1935 in Syracuse, NY she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Gertrude Johnson.

Joan is survived by her children: Edward Hourigan, Denise Hourigan of Philadelphia, PA., Laurie Hourigan of Syracuse, NY, David Hourigan of VA, Jill Bradburn of Leonardtown, MD, Karen Proctor and Jeff Hourigan both of Odenton, MD, 19 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Hourigan is preceded in death by her siblings; Carol and Clarence Johnson.

Joan graduated from Marcellus High School, and graduated Onondaga Community College with an Associate's Degree in Nursing. Joan worked as a Registered Nurse for Doctor Community Hospital for 32 years.

She loved sailing, vacationing in Ocean City, with family, shopping, working, and old movies.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 10:00 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel Leonardtown, MD with Deacon Bill Nickerson officiating. Interment will be private.

Contributions may be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention in Memory of her grandson Justin Lee Hourigan 120 Wall Street, 29th Floor, New York, NY 10005.
