![]() Alene Frances (Ulderich) Smalley, 83 of Lexington Park, MD was born to the late Macel (Steele) Ulderich and Ernest Jay Ulderich on August 6, 1929 and has gone on to be with her Father in Heaven on February 5, 2013. She was born in Hastings, Wetzel County, WV, in the northern panhandle.
Alene was a homemaker, stenographer, and private secretary at Union Carbide Corporation. Alene is survived by her loving husband, Eugene Lesley Smalley, Sr. They were married for 64 years and had three children. The oldest, Cathy A. Jones, husband Scott of Fort Myers, FL; son Eugene Smalley, Jr. of South Charleston, WV; son Steven Smalley, wife Angela of Great Mills, MD; grandchildren, Scott Jones and wife, Lauren of Highlands Ranch, CO; granddaughter, Shannon Gray and husband, Jacob of Rifle, CO; Jason Smalley of South Charleston, WV; Ashley Smalley, Lauren Smalley and Jessica Smalley of Great Mills, MD; great grandchildren, Ava Gray, Ireland Gray and Wyatt Jones. She was so proud of all of them. They helped her so much with tender loving care, providing everything for her when she needed it. She was a believer in Jesus Christ, was baptized at 11 at the Methodist Church. Alene attended the South Charleston Presbyterian Church and Living Word Christian Center where she was born again. Alene and Gene lived in Biloxi Mississippi during Gene's training for Air Traffic Control and also lived in San Antonio, Texas where Cathy was born. Everyone who visited sent cards or helped us. We love you. All the South Charleston High School people are loved too, as well as relatives and friends made, over the years. God bless you all. See you and signing off, Alene. Family will receive friends on Friday, February 8, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Brinsfield Funeral Home, 22955 Hollywood Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. by the Reverend Michael Jones of Patuxent Presbyterian Church, California, MD. An additional visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with service at 8:00 p.m.at Snodgrass Funeral Home, 4122 MacCorkle Avenue, South Charleston, WV. Entombment will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston, WV. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Mary's, P.O.
