Mr. Harmon was a data management specialist for 23 years with the Department of Navy at the Naval Ordnance Station in Indian Head, MD and a veteran of the United States Army, having served from 1957-1960.

He enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, the lottery, and was an avid Redskin fan. He most enjoyed being with his grandkids.

Son of the late Joseph Bernadine Harmon and the late Dessie Mitts Harmon.

He is also predeceased by one brother: Charles Harmon; and one late sister: Mary Lou Forney.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years: Barbara A. Harmon; one son: Jay W. Harmon of College Park, MD; three daughters: Tamara (Gregg) Powers of Lolo, MT, Debra (Lance Brown) Scroggins of La Plata, MD, and Vicki (Don) Hott of Frederick, MD; and four sisters: Betty Ann Forney of Edgewater, MD, Suzy Dodd of Lanham, MD, Kay Malloy of Laurel, MD, and Sheila Griffin of FL. Also survived by eight grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday, January 25, 2013 from 4-8PM with Funeral Service at 7PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel (5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646). Clergy will be Rev. Glen Dameron. Interment will be at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham, MD on Monday, February 4, 2013 at 10AM. Honorary Pallbearers will be the United States Army Honor Guard.
