Joseph Augustus Thomas, Sr. of La Plata, MD died on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Genesis La Plata Center in La Plata, MD. He was 76 years old.

Mr. Thomas worked his entire life as an auto mechanic with Reed McDonough, Barnes Chevrolet, Atlas Pontiac, and Ken Dixon car dealerships.

He was married on July 14, 1961 to Martha Bivins.

He didn't talk much but every so often would tell a joke and then would call you a dip stick. Joe was a great baseball player and enjoyed watching his two sons play for the Pisgah BooBoos.

Son of the late Earl Thomas Sr. and the late Elizabeth Dyer Thomas.

Predeceased by his parents; his loving wife Martha "Honey Bun" Thomas; his brother Earl Thomas Jr.

Survived by three children: Jolita Moton, Joseph (Diane) Thomas Jr., and Dewayne (Renee) Thomas; his brother: Walter Thomas; two grandchildren: JoKisha and Melvin; and eight great-grandchildren. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Visitation: Tuesday, January 22, 2013 from 10AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pomfret, MD. Clergy: Fr. Mark Smith. Interment: Church Cemetery.
