![]() William Edward "Bill" "Eddie" Smith of Waldorf, MD died on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at his residence w/Hospice. He was 88 years old.
Bill was a mail handler for 30 years with the U. S. Postal Service and was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during World War II. He enjoyed his enlistment in the Navy and was proud to have served his country. He was a long-time member of the St. Charles Sportsman's Club and enjoyed the friendship of his "club buddies." He wanted to be remembered in the following way: "I did my duty, I paid my debts. I tried to be truthful. Lies are what causes trouble in this world. A lie is a lie. No such thing as a white lie. When you lie, you steal the truth from someone, stealing is a mortal sin." Son of the late John Smith and the late Bertha Powell Smith. Predeceased by his parents; his wife, Antoinette "Toni" Cecelia Colin Smith; and his sister, Ruby Smith. Survived by one son, Timothy (Debbie) Smith of La Plata, MD; and one daughter, Marybeth (Jim) Gallo of Waldorf, MD. Also survived by 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and wonderful neighbors and friends. Visitation: Sunday, January 13, 2013 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM with a Wake Service at 7PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel (5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646). Mass of Christian Burial: Monday, January 14, 2013 at 10:30AM at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church (100 Village Street, Waldorf, MD 20602). Clergy: Fr. Thomas Crowley. Pallbearers: Jesse Welsh, Pete Kuzma, Billy McAllister, Dick Ray, Rick Boerio, Andre Peck, Ray Eller, and Alan Harper. Interment: January 14, 2012 at 12:30PM at MD Veterans Cemetery (11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, MD 20623). Arrangements provided by Raymond Funeral Service. |
