Mary Katherine Parry, 82, of Mechanicsville, MD peacefully passed away at home on December 15, 2012. Born May 27, 1930 in Decatur, IL, she was the daughter of the late James Lew Atkins and the late Edna (Fleming) Atkins.

A self-employed artisan, Mary enjoyed making porcelain doll reproductions, China painting, and quilting. For many years, she operated a business, Mary's Doll Haven, in Greensboro, MD. She was a founding member of the Doll Club, as well as the Heartland Quilting Guild on the Eastern Shore.

After her move to St. Mary's County in 1999, she became an active board member of the Northern Senior Center Council. During her years at the Center, she was instrumental in the design of the ceramics program. She volunteered her time in ceramics as well as many other crafts. In this capacity, she touched and enriched many lives.

In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by three of her brothers, Robert Atkins, Eugene Atkins, and David Atkins; and three of her sisters, Dorothy Harminson, Patricia Wisley, and Betty Lou Songer.

Her surviving siblings include brothers, Edward Atkins and Thomas Atkins; and a sister, Janet Boys.

Mary is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Robert James Parry, USAF retired. In addition, her children: Dottie P. Woodard, her husband Dick, of Wittman, MD; Maggie P. Eller, her husband Rand, of Mechanicsville, MD; Edward J. Parry, his wife Caren, of Greensboro, MD; and Michael R. Parry, his wife Connie, of Levels, WV; Her six grandchildren include Jonathan Parry, Andrea Emerick, Katie Effinger, Michael Parry, Jr., Monica Eller, and Eli Eller. She also has four great-grandchildren, with another due on her birthday.

In accordance with Mary's wishes, no viewing or funeral will be held. Instead, a Memorial Life Celebration will be held for family and friends to gather on Sunday, January 13th, at the Northern Senior Center in Charlotte Hall, MD, from 2 to 4 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the "Northern Senior Center Council" in her memory.
