Michael Leck, 84, of Hughesville, Maryland passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on December 1, 2012. He was born in Greenport, New York on September 17, 1928 to the late Gregory Harry and Paraska (Holobusky) Leck.

He served 22 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, including involvement in World War II, the Korean Conflict, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and the Vietnam War. He received numerous awards including the Navy Commendation Award and the Purple Heart. Following his retirement from the Marine Corps, he served eighteen years with the Naval Intelligence Command. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He loved spending time with friends, travelling, and camping. More so than that, he cherished his time going to family sports events, and generally spoiling his children and grandchildren. His values reflected the traditions of the U.S. Marine Corps and the Virginia Military Institute.

He was loved by many and will be missed by all.

In addition to his parents, Michael is predeceased by his loving wife, Mary (Roche) Leck; two of his sons, Stanley E. Leck and Michael J. Leck; his three brothers, Frank H. Leck, John P. Leck and Stanlislaw Leck; and his five sisters, Anna (Leck) Craver, Mary (Leck) Eitleman, Sophia (Leck) Slezak, Josephine (Leck) Jutkofsky, and Rose (Leck) Korkin.

Michael is survived by two sons, Gregory M. Leck (Deborah) and Christopher R. Leck; one daughter, Susan (Leck) Fleming; three grandchildren, Ashleigh Leck, Colleen Fleming, and Kelsey Leck; and numerous special nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received for Michael's Life Celebration on Thursday, December 6, 2012 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with prayers beginning at 7:00 PM at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 7, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Bryantown Catholic Church, 13715 Notre Dame Place, Bryantown, MD 20617. Father Rory T. Conley will officiate. Interment will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
