Paul Gerome Istvan, 86, of Cape Coral, Florida passed away at Gulf Coast Village in Cape Coral, Florida on November 24, 2012. He was born in Hughesville, Maryland on October 3, 1926 to the late Joseph and Mamie M. (Buckler) Istvan.

He served in the Army during WWII. Later, Paul became an Assistant Manager for Safeway in Maryland and retired after 31 years of service. His favorite pastime was golfing, spending time with family and friends, sharing his famous stories, and catching and eating seafood.

In addition to his parents, Paul is predeceased by his siblings Anna, Betty, Joseph, Dorothy, Teresa, Johnny, Thelma, Cecelia, and Jimmy.

Paul is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Myrtle Lee (Atkins) Istvan of Cape Coral, Florida; his son, Stephen Istvan of Crofton, Maryland; two daughters, Carol Istvan of Cape Coral, Florida, and Teresa Dickson of Mechanicsville, MD; his sister, Doris Hintze of Waldorf, MD; 5 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received for Paul's Life Celebration on Sunday, December 9, 2012 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. There will be a Mass on Monday, December 10, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Bryantown Catholic Church, 13715 Notre Dame Place, Bryantown, Maryland 20617. Father Rory Conley will officiate. Interment will follow to the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Ross Istvan, Todd Swann, Alan Hintze, George Dickson IV, Brad Dickson, and Tim Lee.
