John "JP" Parran Bowling, 55, died November 16, 2012, peacefully in St. Augustine, Florida. Born on July 20, 1957 in La Plata, Maryland he was the son of the late Winifred Garner Bowling and the late Walter Wade Bowling, Jr.

JP enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid golfer, hunter, fisherman and collector of Native American artifacts. He loved good food, telling stories and working hard. He graduated from La Plata High School in 1975. He was an active member of the La Plata United Methodist Church and volunteered his time to various charities including the Charles County 4-H.

Mr. Bowling is survived by his children, step children and grandchildren; Katie, Kyle and Cooper Causey, Jesse, Michelle and Parker Bowling, John Bowling, Casey, Mike and Canon Gray, Conner and Madison Herndon, Jessie Colburn and Nate Paik. Siblings Billy (Bettie), Chuck (Kristy) and Woody Bowling.

A memorial service will be held on December 3rd at 10:00 a.m. La Plata United Methodist Church, 3 Port Tobacco Road, La Plata, Maryland 20646 with the Reverend Bruce Jones officiating. Interment to follow at Dentsville Cemetery.
