Madeline Cecelia Elizabeth Woodland of Bel Alton, MD died on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at her residence. She was 87 years old.

Mrs. Woodland was a homemaker.

Daughter of the late Charles Henry Hicks and the late Mary Ida Dorsey Hicks.

Predeceased by her parents; her late husband, Charles Sylvester Woodland Sr.; two sons, Joseph Hicks and Charles Woodland Jr.; and her brother Harry Hicks.

Survived by her children, Thelma Woodland, Howard (Inez) Woodland, Theresa Scott, Frances Woodland, John (Violet) Woodland, Helen Giles, James Woodland, Wayne (Rita) Woodland, Linda Woodland, Connie Woodland, Carolyn Williams, Michelle Woodland, and Kevin Woodland; two brothers, Joseph Bush and Charles Hicks, three sisters-in-laws, Jeannette Bush, Helen Brown, and Sarah Brooks; and two daughters-in-law, Savannah Woodland and Wanda Woodland. Also survived by a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and great-great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Tuesday, November 27, 2012 from 9AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (201 St. Mary's Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646). Clergy: Fr. Edward Dougherty. Interment: St. Ignatius Chapel Point Church Cemetery (8855 Chapel Point Road, Port Tobacco, MD 20677). Pallbearers: Steve Bowman, Larry Bush, Jimmy Dorsey, Larry Hicks, Jim Hicks, and Roy Wilson.
