Bernard Clifford Mankin, (Buddy)76, of Charlotte Hall, MD, passed away at Charlotte Hall Veterans Home on October 26, 2012. He was born April 18, 1936 in Washington, DC to the late Charles and Mildred (Anderson) Mankin.

As a young man, he served in the U.S. Navy. Bernard enjoyed fishing & crabbing, working on cars and in his yard, and watching football. He also enjoyed wildlife, especially squirrels and hummingbirds. Most of all, he loved being surrounded by his children and grandchildren.

Aside from his parents, Bernard is predeceased by one of his daughters, Kimberly Sue Lumsden; and his sister, Betty Ann Eckely.

Bernard is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Lee Mankin; his daughters: Carrie Lynn Mankin, Tammy Marie Salvio, Kelly Jean Scarbro; his sons: Charles Michael Mankin and Christopher Bernard Mankin; his sister Patrica Seaberg; his brothers: Charles Mankin and Robert Mankin; his 27 grandchildren: Hope Lynn, Bryan Scott, Bruce Edward, Teresa Amber, Alyssa Nicole, Nicolette Johanna, Jacob Anthony, Isabella Marie-Grace, Domnic Augustis, Amanda Lynn, Jennifer Michelle, Jonathan Michael, Theresa Ann, Jimmie Wilson, Phillip Jerome, Katerina Elizabeth, Christopher Michael, Colleen Rose, Lauren Rachel, Nicholas Alexander, Sean Francis, Claire Elizabeth, Charlotte Ann, Ryan Christopher, Logan Charles, Faith Lizzette; and his 9 great-grandchildren: Leonardo Geovanntti, Nickolaii Wyatt, Gracelyn May, Mason Daniel, Rylah Ann, Blake Daniel, Matthew Edward, and Kerrigan Fisher.

Family and friends will be received for Bernard's Life Celebration on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with Prayers starting at 7:00 PM, at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. There will be a Mass on Wednesday, October 31, 2012, 11:00 AM, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 28297 Old Village Road, Mechanicsville, MD 20659. Interment will be held at a later date at Maryland Veteran Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, MD 20623.

Pallbearers will be: Sons: Charles Mankin and Christopher Mankin. Grandsons: Jimmie Scarbro, Phillip Scarbro, Bryan Whetzel, Jacob Salvio, and Bruce Whittington.
