Earlie Bass Powell, Jr. of White Plains, MD died on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at his residence with Hospice. He was 78 years old.

Mr. Powell was a cameraman for 28 years with the Government Printing Office in Washington, DC. Prior to his work with GPO, he worked for the Washington Post and the Washington Star newspapers. He was a founding member of the Southern Maryland Youth Organization and a Scout Leader. He was also part of Citizens on Patrol for his neighborhood of Brookwood Estates. He was an avid Redskins and Washington Nationals fan. He was proud of Cody's and Tyler's sports titles and Matthew's attendance at college.

Son of the late Earlie B. Powell, Sr. and the late Agnes Virginia Burton Powell.

Predeceased by his parents.

Survived by his wife of 55 years, Yolanda "Yolie" Powell; four sons, Michael J. Powell of Pocomoke, MD, Gregory E. Powell of Washington, DC, Tony L. (Tracy) Powell of White Plains, MD, and Richard A. Powell of Waldorf, MD; one daughter, Lisa Renee Powell of White Plains, MD; seven grandchildren, Matthew, Sean, Juliene, Barry, Tyler, Cody, and Chris; and one great-granddaughter, Kayla.

Gathering: Monday, October 22, 2012 from 5PM until time of Memorial Service at 7PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel (5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646). Funeral Service and Interment: Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at 10AM at the MD Veterans' Cemetery in Cheltenham, MD. Clergy: Rev. Wayne Kempson.
