Mr. Simpson was a self-employed carpenter for 22 years. Prior to carpentry work he was an employee with the A&P Food Store in Lexington Park for 19 years, and was a farmer working his own farm. He loved hunting water fowl, an avid Redskin fan, and spending time with his children and family.

He is the son of the late Joseph Brennan Simpson, Sr. and the late Sarah Louise Davis Simpson. He is also predeceased by one brother, Joseph B. Simpson, Jr.; one sister, Margaret Bailey.

He is survived by two sons, James M. (Melissa) Simpson, Jr. and David A. (Lisa) Simpson, both of Charlotte Hall, MD; one daughter, Jennifer M. Simpson of Waldorf, MD; one brother, Edward Brent (Elaine) Simpson of Charlotte Hall, MD; one sister, Barbara Ann (Richard) Bowling of Charlotte Hall, MD; sister-in-law, Irma Simpson; and six grandchildren, Alyssa, McKenna, Megan, Alexis, Brennan, and Trevor.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 from 5-8PM with Wake Service at 7PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel (5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646). Clergy will be Fr. Robert Golas and Fr. Mark Ervin. Interment will follow on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 10AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church Cemetery, Newport, MD. Pallbearers will be Richard and Steve Bowling, Edward Simpson, Dale Stone, Rodne Getgen, and Timothy Gardiner.
