Catherine V. Oliver 76 of Welcome, Md. died on October 11, 2012 at the Civista Medical Center in La Plata, Md. She was born on September 26, 1936 in Bel Alton, Md. to the late Carroll Welch and Mary Lucille Rice.

She is also predeceased by her husband Lawrence E. Oliver, son Lawrence E. Oliver, Jr., Donald W. Oliver, sister Dorothy Spinks and her brother Johnnie Welch.

She is survived by her daughter Catherine Hezlep and her husband Gary, Sister Mary Shaffer and her husband Jim, Sister Linda Pomerleau and her husband Butch, Grandchildren Jacob Hayes and his wife Sarah, Marshall Hayes, Heather Windsor and her husband Tommy, Denise Hezlep, Alison Hezlep, great grandchildren Autumn Strader, Harper Hayes, Mason Hayes, and Edison Windsor.

Catherine was the Postmaster at the Port Tobacco Post Office. She was the matriarch of her family, was kindhearted, did all she could for everyone, she was selfless. She also loved her family very much.

The family will receive friends on Sunday October 14, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm with prayers at 7:30pm at the Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, La Plata, Md.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday October 15 2012 at 10AM by Fr. Robert Kosty at the St. Ignatius Church Hilltop, Md. Interment to follow at the Church Cemetery.
