![]() Gloria Angeline Filut Davis, 87, of Port Tobacco, a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Cedarfields Nursing Home in Richmond, VA.
A homemaker for 50 years, Gloria raised 6 children, cared for multiple grandchildren, and devoted countless volunteer hours at Civista Medical Center. She enjoyed reading, embroidery, and crocheting. Gloria also spent many years enjoying her pets, visiting with family, and traveling to Antique Automobile Club Association events with her late husband. Born November 24, 1924 in Milwaukee, WI, Gloria was the fourth of seven children born to the late Stanley Filut and the late Angeline Pokora Filut. She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Navy Captain Lloyd James Davis; brothers Leonard Filut and Harvey Filut; sisters Emerine Teevan, Geraldine Welytok, Virginia Grams, and Audrey Herriges. Gloria is survived by her sons, James Davis and wife Claudia of Richmond, Va., John Davis and wife Donna of White Plains, Md., and Stanley Davis of Richmond, Va.; daughters Elizabeth Eagles and husband Mark of La Plata, Md., Ann Davis of Waldorf, Md., and Jane Jump and husband Michael of Pocomoke, Md.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 4 from 6 to 8 p.m.with prayers at 7 pm at the Arehart-Echols Funeral Home in La Plata, MD. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 5 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Plata, MD. The Rev. Fr. Thomas F. Crowley will officiate. Interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA. at a later date. Pallbearers will be her grandsons Scott Davis, Christopher and Adam Jump, Ross Eagles, and Daniel and Robert Davis. Memorial contributions may be made to the Charles County Public Library, La Plata Branch, 2 Garrett Avenue, La Plata, Md. 20646. Arrangements are being handled by Arehart-Echols Funeral Home. |
