Robert James Cooksey Sr., 65, of Brandywine, MD, formerly of Waldorf, MD, died September 22, 2012 at Civista Medical Center, LaPlata, MD. Bobby was born April 30, 1947 in Prince Frederick, MD. He was the son of James F. and Elsie M. Shlagel Cooksey. He was raised on Shlagel Farm in Waldorf and attended Charlotte Hall Military Academy. Bobby served in the United States Army and retired from the DC Federal Government.

He loved the outdoors and loved gardening and farming and liked hunting, fishing, crabbing, boating and camping as well as bargain shopping and cooking. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Robert was predeceased by his parents and brother, Eddie Cooksey.

He is survived by sons, Robert J. "Bobby" Cooksey, Jr. (Susan) and Wayne Roy Cooksey (Patti); daughters, Brenda Sue Riffee (A-dub) and Linda Michelle Parker (Alan); sisters, Elsie Benfield, Mary Frances Hannah, Cindy Daugherty, Donah Berry, Norma Berry and Dorothy Ann Tippett. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends for Robert's Life Celebration on Thursday, September 27, 2012 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8p.m. at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Brinsfield-Echols. Pastor Mike Hilson, of New Life Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Cooksey, Wayne Cooksey, Alan Parker, Jr., Robert Cooksey, III, A-dub Riffee and Roger Benfield.
