Dorothy Louise Dieux of Solomons, Maryland died September 7, 2012 at Solomons Nursing Center. Born April 26, 1928 In Washington, D.C. She was the daughter of the late Arthur Brown and Eloise Berholtz.

She loved cooking for family and friends, playing bingo and coordinating social functions. She was a long time Redskin fan even while residing in Winter Haven, Florida. Dottie was a pioneer for the rights of the mentally handicapped and fought in Washington D.C. for schooling and transportation for her special needs daughter Terry.

She was a member of the Knights of Columbus St. Columbkille Council Ladies Guild and one of the first Presidents and member of Solomons VFD Auxiliary. In her prime she enjoyed dancing to the big bands, roller skating and bowling. She enjoyed being with family, doing puzzles and watching sports. Before becoming ill, you could often find her walking along the Solomons pier with her companion Ernie Amos.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul and daughter Terry Lee.

She is survived by her daughters Jeanette McCully (Jim) of Hughesville, Maryland and Michele Shepherd (Robert) of St. Leonard, Maryland, Brother Jim Brown (Shirley_) of Callaway, Maryland., sister-in-law Jean Dieux of Rockville, Maryland. Four grandchildren, Christine Manson of Castle Rock, Co., Michael and Tina Shepherd of St. Leonard, Maryland and Brian McCully of Knoxville, Maryland. Four great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Katelyn, Abigail and Colin. And many nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends for her graveside service at 11:00 am. on Friday, September 14, 2012 at The Washington National Cemetery, Suitland, Maryland.
