John Walter Redmond, 75 of Bryantown, Maryland, died on September 11, 2012 at his residence with his beloved wife by his side. John was born on July 19, 1937, in Springfield, Massachusetts to the late Helen Grill Redmond and Alyn Carl Redmond.

John grew up in Springfield, MA, where he attended and graduated Springfield Technical High School. After graduation, John attended the General Electric Apprentice Program to learn designing. There he designed sub-stations and large transformers. John was also a certified scuba diver and a part of US Navy Seabees, a naval construction battalion.

Carol Ingalls also worked at GE which is where they met. John married the loved of his life on July 8, 1967 in MA. They came to Southern Maryland the end of May in 1972 and have lived here since. John managed and operated the Waldorf Gulf Station till September 1980.

John always had a passion for fixing anything mechanical. He and Carol owned and operated Waldorf Cycle, located on Leonardtown Road from, 1984-2004. There he sold and repaired bikes and small engines. John was known by many as "Dr. John", the doctor of all repairs. John also recruited youth who were experienced bike riders to become part of Waldorf BMX racing team. He and Carol would take these boys all over to race.

John also loved to own and restore Corvettes. He and Carol are past members of the Southern MD Corvette Club. John also enjoyed puzzles, swimming, hunting deer and his fishpond at their cabin in West Virginia. He also enjoyed researching family genealogy.

In addition to his parents, John was also predeceased by his siblings, the late Robert and Elaine Redmond.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol Ingalls Redmond and his devoted Shetland Sheepdog, Frenchy.

He is also survived by his father in law, Florry Ingalls of Pittsfield, MA; Sister in law, Bonnie LaPierre (William) of Dalton, MA; brother in law, Timothy Ingalls also of Pittsfield, MA.; and many caring friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 14, 2012 from 5-8PM at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. Service will follow at 7:00PM with Father Rory T. Conley officiating. Inurnment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions can be made to Charles County Humane Society, 71 Industrial Park Drive, Waldorf, MD 20602.
