![]() On Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007, "Thomas Clifton Barnes Sr." departed this life at Civista Medical Center in La Plata Md. He was born to the late Joseph and Mary Barnes in Newburg, Maryland.
Thomas attended and graduated from Bel Alton High School. He served in the United State's Army for 5 years. After being honorably discharged from the military, he worked at the Naval Ordance Station in Indian Head Md. He was later employed by the State Highway Administration of Md., and after 35 years of faithful employment, he retired in 2000. During his retirement, Thomas spent quality time with family and friends. He especially loved "Sunday Dinners" with his grandchildren. He enjoyed gardening and was an avid "Redskins" fan. He also enjoyed watching wrestling and basketball. He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of 41 years "Audrey C. Barnes". Out of this union came 6 children. "Thomas C. Jr., Kenneth M., Keith M., John E. and Timothy "Lydell" Barnes. A daughter Terrie Renee who proceeded him in death. In addition, he leaves to treasure memories of him, his brother "James W. Barnes", sister in-laws Betty Barnes and Mary V. Barnes. Daughter in-laws; Bernetta, Roxanne and Carolyn Barnes 11 grandchildren, Ty, Jarelle, Whitney, Marcus, Brianna, Jonnell, Savannah, Ariel, Justin, Keiocha, Marquaill, and 2 great-grandchildren "Christian and Baby J". Close friends of the family, "Diane and Anna"; and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, other relatives and friends. He was proceeded in death by his brothers Joseph and John Barnes, and sisters Margaret Wells, Vivian Elidridge and Mary Blakeley. His Viewing and Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 28, 2007 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 15848 Rock Point Road, Issue, Maryland 20645, Viewing 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 am His Interment will be in Maryland Veteran Cemetery, Cheltenham, Md. |
