Robert Harmon Myers, Sr., 68, passed away at his sister's residence in Mechanicsville, MD, with his loving family at his side on August 5, 2012. Robert was formerly from Huntingtown, MD and grew-up in Bradbury Heights, MD. He was born on September 13, 1943 in Washington, DC, the son of the late Harry Amos Myers, Sr. and the late Myrtle Virginia (Bruffy) Myers.

Robert, known as "Bobby" to his family and friends, was a retired Painter with the International Union of Painters & Allied Trades, District Council #51, Local Union #368. Bobby is a Veteran of the United States Army, proudly serving his country from 1967 to 1969. He was a Drill Instructor, and trained troops at the U.S. Army Training Center in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Bobby always reflected on his military service as his life's finest hour.

Bobby was a devoted Redskins fan all his life. He had a great personality and would make us laugh with his unique antics and mimicking. Bobby "ran against the wind" and could be stubborn at times. His favorite number was "13" and so dying on August 5, the Lord gave him his number: 8 plus 5 equals 13. He is best known by those who love him most as being a loyal father and friend, and loving brother. Bobby loved his sons, and he loved their mother.

Bobby had life-long friends; several of them visited him in his last hours. He was always faithful about keeping in touch, and you could set your watch to his daily phone calls. Bobby's greatest grace from God was compassion. He was always the protector of us all. As his son Jason says, "He would take a bullet for any one of us." And that's the truth…that's Bobby.

Our hearts are bursting with love for you, Bobby!! You are greatly missed! The Lord has you in his arms now. Rest in Peace Dad! Rest in Peace Dear Brother and Friend!

He is survived by his two sons, Robert Harmon Myers, Jr., and Clint Jason Myers, both of Hughesville, MD; his granddaughter, Morgan Elaine Myers of Pennsylvania; siblings, Harry A. Myers, Jr. of Williamsburg, VA, Shirley McIntosh of Supply, NC, Wayne Myers of Traphill, NC, Dorothy Bowie, Debra Myers and Victoria Hosier all of Mechanicsville, MD; and his former wife, Sherrie Myers of Eufaula, Alabama. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who he dearly loved.

Family and friends will be received for Bobby's Life Celebration on Monday, August 13, 2012, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622.
