Mr. Graves was a lifelong resident of Charles County. He was a member of La Plata Baptist Church. He retired from Gulf Oil Corporation, and was a general store owner for 20 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Temple Hills and was a musician with Four Winds. He enjoyed amatuer radio and liked fishing. He always donated his time and talents to nursing homes and all other people.

He was the son of Jessie E. Graves and Bertie T. Woods Graves.
