Born March 30, 1928, in La Plata, Maryland, she was the third child of the late Henry and the late Mary Ida Bivins.

Dorothy was educated in the public schools of Charles County, Maryland. She enjoyed playing the lottery scratch offs, bingo and po ke no.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Lee Sr., great-grandchildren, Demondrey Bivins and Emmanuel Fagon Jr., sister, Mary Canty and brother, John Dodson.

She is survived by her eight children, James, Gilbert (Brenda), Peter Sr., Robin (Sherwood), Bridgette, Barbara, Robert Jr. and Roslyn; brother, Henry Bivins; two sisters, Nancy Waters and Francis Hicks; brothers-in-law, William Waters, James Hicks and Wilmer Lee; sisters-in-law, Sue Bivins and Inez Cook. 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Her Viewing will be held from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m. on Friday, July 20, 2007, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 201 St. Mary's Avenue, La Plata, Maryland. Her Interment will be in the Church Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Thornton Funeral Home, Pomonkey, Maryland.
