Joseph Daniel Cole died at home at the age of 70. He was known by most as Joe Boy. He resided in Chaptico, MD. Joseph was educated in Charles County where he completed the eighth grade.

He was a truck driver for many years at Long Grain Elevator in Charlotte Hall, MD. When it was sold he went to work for Tomar Trucking in Pomfret, MD.

Joseph's hobbies were hunting, spending time with his family, watching westerns, and traveling. His favorite movie was Harlem Nights. On Sundays he would watch football. Joseph was a devoted fan of the Washington Redskins. Win or lose he would cheer them on.

Joseph is the son of the late James Dudley Cole Sr. and Alice Cecilia Campbell.

He is preceded in death by his sister Alice Cecilia Hicks (Pig), Brother James Dudley Cole Jr., friends Thomas Earl Edelen and Thomas Wade Pinkley.

Joseph leaves behind three sisters, Mary Alberta Cole, Agnes Knott, Dora Alieen Thomas, one brother, Thomas Cole, a nephew, John Cole, two nieces, Catherine Ann Thomas and Mary Alice Thomas, four great nieces, Ethel Thomas (Boobie), LaQuita Thomas, Laura Thomas (DayTay), Jennette Thomas, one great nephew, Wayne Thomas Jr. (Bud), two great-great nephews, Ja'Quan Thomas and JaShaun Thomas, and a host of many nieces and nephews. He leaves behind many friends, Larry and Pat Stonesifer, David Thomas, Eugene Thomas, and Oscar Edelen.

Arehart-Echols Funeral Home of La Plata, MD is handling the funeral arrangements.

Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday June 5, 2012 at 10am at the St. Mary's Newport Church in Newport, MD. The Rev. Fr. Mark Ervin will officiate. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
