Lillian Morris Matise died May 27, 2012 at her residence in Mechanicsville, Maryland at the age of 93. Lillian was born March 15, 1919 in West Virginia. She was the daughter of the late James Fred Morris and the late Grace Kennedy Morris.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Alvin Sterling Stanford and her second husband Walter Paige Matise and infant brother James, Jr.

Lillian is survived by sons James Alvin Stanford and Lynn Paige Matise, daughters Livia J. Harris and Lillian Lynette Worth, 33 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

In 1969 a newspaper ran an article on her as "The Voice of Pargas." It stated that district employees throughout the country knew Lil by her "happy voice and helping ways." Her family describes her as a great mother who was wonderful, kind, loving and very giving. Lillian was a member of The Faith Methodist Church in Accokeek, Maryland.

Family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 pm. on Friday, June 1, 2012 at The Huntt Funeral Home, 3035 Old Washington Road, Waldorf, Maryland, where funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 10:00 am. Burial will take palce at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, Maryland.
