Robert "Craig" Mathews, Jr., of Cobb Island, MD died on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at his residence with hospice. He was 68 years old.

Craig was a stagehand for 40 years with Local 22 Stagehands Union at the Kennedy Center and was very involved with the Union for the betterment of his fellow workers. He was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard. He was a proud member of the Democratic Club of Southern Maryland and the Northern Irish Aide. He was an accomplished guitar player and wrote his own music. He also played banjo and piano. He loved his dogs "Gracie" and "Jezi".

Son of the late Robert Craig Mathews, Sr., and the late Jean Shirley McNair Mathews. Predeceased by his parents.

Survived by his wife of 27 years, Bernadette Mathews; one brother- in-law, Joseph (Denise) Kowalski of NH; and two nephews, Joey and Kord Kowalski.

Memorial Celebration: Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 2PM at the Mathews residence. Interment: By family at a later date.
