John Alan Sherbert of La Plata, MD died on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Civista Medical Center in La Plata, MD. He was 52 years old.

Mr. Sherbert was a legal office administrator for 25 plus years with Dickinson Wright PLLC in Washington, DC and was a loving and dedicated husband and father. He graduated from La Plata High School in 1975. He was also a golf enthusiast and long-time supporter of local youth and high school sports.

Son of the late Donald M. Sherbert and the late Delores Jean Wood Sherbert.

Predeceased by his parents.

Survived by his wife, Joan Kelley Sherbert; one son, Donald Eugene Sherbert of La Plata, MD; one daughter, Nicole Marie Sherbert of La Plata, MD; one brother, Robert Sherbert and his wife Geri of Smithsburg, MD; three sisters, Donna Lynn Smith and her husband Denny of Fairhope, PA, Bonnie Davis and her husband Frank of Mechanicsville, MD, and Gail Graves and her husband Larry of Bel Alton, MD; mother-in-law, Mitzi "Mom" Kelley of La Plata, MD; and paternal uncle and aunt, Buddy and Willa Sherbert. Also survived by many, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation: Monday, May 7, 2012 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. Funeral Service: Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 11AM at Raymond Funeral Chapel. Clergy: Rev. Bruce Jones. Pallbearers: Todd Carroll, Scott Davis, Ricky Frere, Patch Hendricks, Michael Kelley, Justin King, Michael Ogren, Steven Sherbert, Denny Smith, Jr., Brian Smith, and Ronnie Taylor. Interment: La Plata United Methodist Church Cemetery in Dentsville, MD.
