Jean Marie Arwood of Waldorf, Maryland, died at her residence on Tuesday, May 1. 2012. She was 81 years old. Born on September 16, 1920 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Agnes Lorraine Middleton and the late James Bernard Goldsmith.

An administrative assistant for 30 years at DC General Hospital, Mrs. Arwood enjoyed gardening, reading, crocheting with the Red Hats Society and always helping others. She was of the Methodist faith and attended Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Mechanicsville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands Joseph B. Trotter and Glen Arwood, and her sister Catherine Elaine Hancock.

She is survived by her daughter Cynthia Bowling and her husband Tim of Waldorf, MD; grandchildren Susan Simpson and her husband Dennis, Steve Bowling and his wife Suzanne; sisters Penny Boyle and her husband Bernie of VA, Helen Grigsby and her husband Marvin of VA, Shirley Schwartz of CA. Also survived by six great-grandchildren.

Visitation on Friday, May 4, 2012 from 10AM to 11AM at the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Laurel Grove, 27108 Mt. Zion Church Road, Mechanicsville, MD 20650 where funeral services will be held beginning at 11AM with the Reverend Ann Strickler to officiate. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers are Dennis Simpson, Steve Bowling, Craig Simpson, Cody Simpson, Bill Cooke and Chad Ellis.
