Ernest "Ernie" Carl Fankhauser died peacefully on April 22, 2012 at the age of 89. Before moving to the Charlotte Hall Veteran's House, he lived in Lothian, Maryland. Ernie was born on September 1, 1922 in Washington, DC to Ernest and Twila Fankhauser.

He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Louise Fankhauser and a loving father to Carolyn Carroll and her husband, Kenneth.

Ernie retired from BP after 30 years of service as an Oil Burner Mechanic. He was a member of the Deale Elks Lodge and the American Legion – Mayo Post. He loved camping, dancing and working in the yard.
