Margaret "Peggy" Elizabeth Alger Sutten died on April 20, 2012 at home in La Plata, MD. Born on November 3, 1925 in Baltimore County, MD, she was the daughter of Jesse F. Alger and Helen Hess Alger.

Peggy lived most of her life in La Plata, graduated from La Plata High School, and attended the Charles County Community College and the University of MD. Her career spanned 25 years as a teacher, first in private kindergarten and then at Walter J. Mitchell Elementary School where she taught first grade. As a member of La Plata United Methodist Church, she was active in the church's youth group, taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. She was also active in the Cub and Boy Scouts as a Den Mother and leader. Peggy was active in the Eastern Star and a member of the La Plata Lioness Club. After retirement, she was very active in a Jazzercise group in which she participated well into her seventies, until her health forced her to stop.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Adrian P. Sutten, sons Stephen R. and his wife Anna of St. Paul, MN and Jeffery J. and his wife Annie of La Plata; grandchildren Jesse R. and his wife Megan; Brent W. and Lauren E. She is also survived by a brother, Howard F. Alger and his wife Sybil, a niece Elizabeth Alger and nephew Michael Alger.

Visitation will be held at Raymond's Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 24, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM. A memorial service will be held at La Plata United Methodist Church on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at 10 AM with burial following at United Methodist Church Cemetery in Dentsville, MD. Pallbearers are Brent Sutten, Jesse Sutten, Steve Sutten, Jeff Sutten, Matt Chisholm and John Newcomb.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of Charles County or the charity of choice.
