Joseph Roosevelt Thompson died at his home on April 18, 2012 at the age of 75. Mr. Thompson was a resident of Charles County. Mr. Thompson was born June 26, 1936 in Maryland. He was the son of the late Joseph P. Thompson and Edna Thompson.

Mr. Thompson worked for many years as a mail courier until he retired in 2000.

He is preceded in death by his 2 brothers Ernest and Davis.

Survivors include: loving wife of 46 years Mary Kay Thompson, 6 sisters: Mary, Betty, Theresa, Shirley, Cathreen and Peggy, 6 brothers: Tommy, Johnny, Paul, Francis, Micheal and Preston. Mr. Thompson is also survived by 3 brother-in-laws and 1 sister-in-law.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, April 22 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 pm at The Huntt Funeral Home, 3035 Old Washington Road, Waldorf, Maryland. Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 23, 2012 at 11:00 am at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 8855 Chapel Point Road, Port Tobacco, Maryland. Burial will take in the church cemetery. Father Edward Dougherty will officiate. Pallbearers are: Thomas proctor, Timothy Proctor, Brandon Proctor, Marty Thompson and William Thompson.
