Mrs. June Quann passed away on Saturday, April 7, 2012 with her family by her side at Civista Medical Center in La Plata, MD. Mrs. Quann was born on March 18, 1925 in Pettry, WV.

She was preceded in death by her parents George H. Higginbotham and Allie Lilly Shannon Higginbotham; sisters Blanche Shannon Renn, Pearl Shannon Swaggerty, and Lillian Shannon Walters; brother Johnson K. Higginbotham; and beloved sister-in-law Virginia Higginbotham. June was also preceded in death by her husband Amos E. Quann.

June moved to La Plata from Colonial Beach, VA in 1959 with her daughter Linda.

June married her second husband Amos Quann in August 1959 in Indian Head, MD. Together they had another daughter, Patricia. For more than 30 years, June was a familiar face at County Drug Store in La Plata. She made many friends. She enjoyed her time with the Country Music Square Dancing Club in St. Mary's County with her dear friend Elwood Cusic. June also loved to play cards and tell jokes. June was an avid gardener and truly loved to watch things grow. Her favorite flowers were pansies, roses, and carnations.

June was a kind and gentle soul who adopted stray cats and dogs and gave them a good, loving home. She was particularly fond of dogs and in her later years she enjoyed the company of Charlie, Sara and Jazz. June loved her family and friends and was always willing to help someone in need. She loved spending time with her extended family. One of her greatest joys was studying the Lord's word with her Tuesday Morning Christ Care Bible Study Group at Grace Lutheran Church.

June is survived by her daughter Patricia and husband Steve Tillman of La Plata, MD; daughter Linda and husband Clinton Loeffler of Colonial Beach, VA; step-son Freddie Quann and his wife Dayle of Fredericksburgh, VA; and her favorite niece Venessa Higginbotham Garst of Royersford, PA.

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Lauren Cusic of La Plata, MD, Jacke Loeffler Mumpower of Stafford, VA; Sheri Loeffler Parcell of Blacksburg, VA, Danny Quann of King George, VA, Deborah and David Quann of Fredericksburg, VA, Darin Quann of Spotsylvania, VA, Cameron Tillman of Union City, MI, Zachary Tillman of San Diego, CA, and Shelbe Tillman of Indianapolis, IN; and great-grandchildren: Jakob Mumpower, Addie and Joshua Parcell, Ariel Selwyn, Jenna and Aaron Quann, Lindsey Olson, Scott and Andrew Quann, and Rachel Quann.

Visitation: Thursday, April 12, 2012 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM with Prayer Service at 7PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646 Funeral Service: Friday, April 13, 2012 at 10AM at Grace Lutheran Church, 1200 Charles Street, La Plata, MD 20646 Clergy: Rev. Charles Long. Interment: Mt. Rest Cemetery on Charles Street in La Plata, MD.
