George French Baker, Sr., lovingly known by family and friends as "Poot", was born on November 9, 1928 in Chaptico, MD to the late James T. Baker and the late Eleanor (Butler) Baker.

On March 29, 2012 he was called home to rest. He leaves his lovely wife Anna L. Baker to cherish his memories.

He is survived by his daughters, Patricia M. (DeSales) Tyer, Tilda M. Foster, Shirley A. (Charles) Woodland, Anna M. (Ronald) Davis, Angela D. (Marshall) Thomas, Tonya P. Baker, Sharon R. (James) Ball, Bernice B. (James) Courtney, and Bonita M. Baker; his sons, George R. (Althea) Reeves, George F. Baker, Jr., Joseph I. (Ernestine) Baker, Francis D. (Goiga) Baker, Sr., and Andrew S. (Monica) Baker; his siblings, Joseph T. Baker, Sr., Joseph D. Baker, and John K. Bush. He also leaves behind 44 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

He was a veteran in the Korean War for two years. He worked 42 years for B. Y. Lumber Company.

His visitation will be held on Monday, April 9, 2012 from 9AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Morganza (St. Mary's County, MD) 29229 Point Lookout Road, Morganza, MD 20660. Clergy will be Fr. Keith Woods, with pallbearers; James M. Courtney, Jr., Derrick A. Washington, Terrell R. Reeves, Jamal Baker, Timothy Wren, and Timothy Baker. Honorary Pallbearers will be United States Army Honor Guard. Mr. Baker's internment will be on Monday, April 9, 2012 at 1PM at MD Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham, MD.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice House of St. Mary's (PO Box 625, Leonardtown, MD 20650).
