Joseph Roy Thompson, 54, of Newburg, MD passed away on March 24, 2012. Born on January 15, 1958 in La Plata, MD.

He is preceded in death by his father; Leonard F. Thompson, step-father; Brent McDonald, and brother; Michael F. Thompson.

He is survived by his mother; Mary E. McDonald. Brother; Richard L. Thompson. Sons; David St. Clair, Jacob Thompson, Matthew Thompson, and Bradley Thompson. Sister; Debra Sue Bowling. Grandchild; Lilly Jane St. Clair, and special friend Denise "Neicy" Pash.

Joseph was a veteran of the Marine Corp. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and spending time with his family and friends.

A viewing will take place on Thursday, March 29, 2012 from 2-4 pm & 6-8 pm with prayers at 7 pm at the Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, P.A. in La Plata. A funeral service will take place on Friday, March 30, 2012 at 1 pm at the funeral home with the Rev. Fr. Gregory Coan officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Ghost Catholic Church Cemetery in Issue. Pallbearers will be David St. Clair, Michael Reed, Cody Bowling, Alex Wise, Paul Jones, and David Jenkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Thompson, Matthew Thompson, Bradley Thompson, James Wise, and Kyle Bowersox.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a college fund for Bradley Thompson, son of the late Joseph R. Thompson.
