Augustine Harold Walter, 84, of Hughesville, MD died at Civista Medical Center in La Plata, MD on March 14, 2012. He was born in Hughesville, MD on July 8, 1927. Augustine was the son of the late Harry Herman Walter and the late Emma Heckel.

He was a lifelong farmer and longtime member of Charles County Farm Bureau, and served as its president for six years. He also served on the Maryland Farm Bureaus Board of Directors and most recently on the MFB's PAC committee. He was an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus. Besides farming, Augustine enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Aside from his parents, Augustine was predeceased by his four brothers Hary Walter, Francis J. Walter, Edward Walter, and Carl Walter; and his sister, Emma Jane Klim.

Augustine is survived by his loving wife, Helen Marie Walter; his son Steven Walter; his grandson Nicholas S. Walter; his sister, Mary McLaughlin; and many other family members and friends.

Family will receive friends for a Life Celebration on Monday, March 19, 2012 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM and 6:00PM to 8:00PM, with prayers at 7:00PM, at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. There will be a Mass on Tuesday, March 20, 2012, 11:00AM, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 13715 Notre Dame Place, Bryantown, MD 20617. Interment will immediately follow at the Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers are David Walter, Donald Walter, Joseph Walter, Thomas Walter, Harold Hintze, and Andrew Montgomery.
