Swann, May Emma Butler (Age 79) of La Plata, Maryland.

On Wednesday, March 14, 2012, our Lord called May Emma Swann (Emma) home to her eternal resting place. Emma was born in Upper Marlboro, MD on August 20, 1932, the daughter of the late James Herman Butler and the late Elizabeth Edith (Proctor) Butler.

She attended Charles County Public Schools. Later in life, she retired from professional work in the Charles County Public Schools in 1995, after 24 years of service.

Emma was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Oscar Wilbert Swann (Willie) until his death in September, 1980. She was a born again Christian and an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Her love for gardening, interior decorating, Sunday dinners with her family, and a good card game was evident throughout her home and her life. Preceding her in death was her beloved husband, the late Oscar Wilbert Swann and her son, the late, Thomas Herbert Swann.

She leaves to cherish her memories, five children, Charles Randolph (Randy) Swann, Mae Caroline (Mae Carolyn) Wade, Francis Gary (Tidy) Swann, Elizabeth (Debbie)Proctor and Michele (Samantha) Swann; one son-in-law, Jeffrey P. Proctor; seven grandchildren, Tiffany Smoot,Lajoy Smallwood, Wendell Wade, Juston Wade, Francis Swann Jr., Zachary Swann and Shayla Proctor; three great-grandchildren, Alexis Smoot, Camron Smoot and Nathan Wade; one sister, Mary Helen Matthews and a host of family and friends.

Viewing, 9:30am until Mass of Christian Burial, 10:30am on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 201 St. Mary's Avenue, La Plata, Maryland. Interment, St. Ignatius Catholic Church Cemetery, Chapel Point, Maryland.
