![]() Anna Catherine Riffle "Cookie", 70, of Charlotte Hall, MD died peacefully on March 11, 2012. Anna was born July 29, 1941 in Parkland, MD to the late John C. Gottlied and Anna C. Gottlied.
She graduated from La Plata High School and was in the first graduating class of the College of Southern Maryland. She lived her life dedicated to God and her family. She was very active and a life-long member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she served for many years teaching Sunday school and playing the organ. For a time she taught at the Amish grade school. She loved helping any living creature (two- and four-legged). She also enjoyed photography, sewing and gardening. Anna is survived by her mother Anna Gottlied, her husband Philip of 47 years and three children, Pat, his wife Betty -- Phyllis, her husband Brian -- Anita, her husband Billy. She is also survived by her brother, John, his wife Catherine, 13 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and several loving nieces and nephews. On March 17, family will receive visitors at 10am at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 37707 New Market Turner Road, Mechanicsville, MD. The service and interment will follow beginning at 12 noon. Pallbearers will be Boyce Elliott, "Tater" Hewitt, Paul Hewitt, Brian Ludden, John Riffle, Stephen Riffle, Billy Tate and Jack Tate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be in memory of Anna Riffle made to Children's Hospital Foundation, 801 Roeder Road, Suite 300, Silver Spring, MD 20910.
