Charles Michael "Mike" Gerek, 62, of Park Hall, MD, died on September 27, 2006 at his residence. Born on October 5, 1943 in St. Mary's City, MD, he was the son of the late Cyril Joseph and Teresa Gertrude Hammett Gerek.

Mr. Gerek worked as an engineering professional and retired from civil service on April 1, 1999. He was a Charter Boat Captain on the "Sandra Marie". From 1981 until his passing he took out fishing parties in the Chesapeake Bay and the Potomac River. He was a member of American Legion Post # 255, Maryland Charter Boat Association and NARFE. He also was a member at St. Cecelia's Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Marie Gerek of Park Hall, MD, two daughters, Mischelle Gerek of Lexington Park, MD, Michelle Russell of Ridge, MD, one son, Scott Raymond of Park Hall, MD, two sisters, Pat Gerek of Park Hall, MD, Rose Pace of Denham Springs, LA, two brothers, Rick Gerek and Joe Gerek, both of St. Mary's City, MD, and five grandchildren, Chandler Raymond, Zane Raymond, Carter Russell, Alison Russell, and Cuyler Raymond. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Marie Gerek, one sister, Betty Ann Stewart and a niece.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 29, 2006 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at St. Cecelia's Catholic Church, 47950 Mattapony Road, St. Mary's City, MD 20686. Prayers will be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 30, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Cecelia's Catholic Church, St. Mary's City, MD. Reverend Damian Shadwell will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in St. James Cemetery, Lexington Park, MD.

Pallbearers will be his nephews, Paul Gerek, Bobby Pace, Jay Pace, Russ Gerek, Jeff Gerek and Andrew Gerek.
