![]() Bill Geidner passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, May 17, 2007 in Vero Beach, FL. He was born William Joseph Geidner on April 24, 1936 in Youngstown, OH.
He was a 1954 Graduate of St. Mary's High School in Warren, OH, and a 1984 graduate of Kent State University in OH. He was preceded in death by parents, William F. Geidner and Arlene M. (Boggins) Geidner, and two brothers, John R. (Corky) Geidner and Michael Geidner. Bill enlisted in the US Air Force upon high school graduation and had a 26-year rewarding career. He retired as a Chief Master Sergeant from the Air Force Honor Guard in August 1980. Prior to that, he was the Senior Enlisted Advisor for the 1100th ABW at Bolling AFB, though he spent most of his career in the 89th Military Airlift Command at Andrews AFB, serving as a chief flight steward under Presidents Eisenhower through Carter. He married Paula Weiske in January, 1958, and from that marriage, there are four loving daughters – Teresa (Matt) Clark, Huntingtown, MD; Pamela (Kenneth) Yount, Welcome, MD; Melanie (Fred) Valdez, San Antonio, TX; and Laurene (Russell) Tilton, Owings, MD. In addition, he shared a special relationship with nephews Jeffrey Geidner of AL and James Geidner of FL. On August 16, 1986, he married Darlene (Hall, McCoy). He has one stepson, Sean McCoy, of Phoenix, AZ. He was "Pop-Pop" to eight beloved grandchildren, and he was loved by numerous nieces and nephews. His passion was football; he was a dedicated Washington Redskins fan and he raised his four daughters and stepson to be just as fierce in support of their team. He also coached numerous teams in Southington, OH and the Washington, DC area, including Bishop McNamara High School, Camp Springs Boys and Girls Club, and St. Margaret's Catholic School. He touched many lives and his memory will live forever in our hearts. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 29 from 6-9 pm at Lee Funeral Home in Owings, MD. Funeral mass will be held Wednesday, May 30 at 11:00 am at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Owings, MD, followed by a military burial at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, Md. |
