Our heavenly father received our beloved son DuWayne Anthony Thomas (fondly known as Tony) to his peaceful home on Sunday, February 11, 2007.

Tony was born on April 7, 1976 at Greater Southeast Hospital, Washington, D. C. to the proud parents of William F. Thomas and Deborah C. Posey-Thomas. Tony received his formal education in the Charles County Public School System. He was employed as a Sales Associate at the Bryans Road Building Supply, Inc., where he enjoyed interacting with the customers. He always assisted the customers with his warm and friendly smile. Tony dedicated his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Marbury, Md. Later in his adult life he joined the Muslim faith.

In his pastime he was an avid and skilled barber and found great pleasure in cuffing the hair of his family and friends. Some of his other hobbies included working on cars and playing video games with his son Tyrell. He loved hanging out with his buddies and watching his favorite football team, The Washington Redskins. As a child, Tony learned to play the piano and had his first recital at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He also played little league football for the Western Charles Sky Hawks where he earned the nickname "Tank."

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Lloyd and Thelery Thomas, Sr. and maternal grandparents: Donald and Sylvia Posey.

In addition to his parents, left to cherish his memory one son, Tyrell Anthony Thomas, brothers; Darrick and Adrain Thomas, sister; LaTonia Adams, nephews; Carlton King and D'Angelo Thomas, nieces; Kenia Mbachu and Jada Wyatt; uncles; Harold (Betty), Curtis (Len) and Clifton Thomas (Theresa), Roderick and Arnold Mason, Terrence (Hanneke), Donnell, Ronald, Yvon (Katrina) and Darius Posey (Melissa), aunts; Marjorie Lancaster (Frederick), Vondelear Posey, Pynette Beale, and Ozetta Posey, great uncles; Richard Marbury (Marion), Joseph Morton (Havannah), Bertram Posey (Margie), great aunts; Helen Marbury and Marjorie Jones, Geraldine Posey, a devoted friend Monika Walton, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Viewing will be held on Tuesday, February 20th, 9:00a.m. until time of service 11:00a.m. at Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., Rte. 227, Pomonkey, MD. Interment Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
