Ralph Llewellyn Boyer, son of the late Rosa and James Boyer, was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on March 12, 1917, and departed this life on April 19, 2007.

Ralph, affectionately known as Lou, attended public schools in Philadelphia. He joined the United States Army in 1943, where he served in World War II. He later settled in the Washington, D.C. area and worked at the Naval Ordnance Station in Indian Head, Maryland, where he met and married Phelicia Clark Boyer. From this union five children were born.

Ralph joined Metropolitan United Methodist Church in 1959. He later joined the Church of Christ, where he attended regularly until his health failed, at which time he received regular visits from his minister and other members of the congregation.

He enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards, and listening to music. He was a member of the American Legion Randolph Furey, Post 170 in Pomonkey, Maryland.

In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his three brothers and two sons.

He is survived by wife, Phelicia Boyer, children, Bernard Boyer, Nyanda Dutch-Malik (neé Beverly Boyer) and her husband Tsaka Dutch-Malik, Gregory Boyer and his wife Dana Boyer, Clark Boyer, Lucretia Boyer and her husband William Evans, and Margaret Moody; sister Sarah Rembert; grandchildren Julian Boyer Glass, Johnny Rossettos, Adrian Boyer, Amanda Boyer, Aja Boyer, Elizabeth Hyde, Thomas Moody, Dorothea Bedford, and Marsha Taylor; sisters-in-law, Jeannette Thurmond, Elvira Langford, Winifred Sechrest, Edna Clark, and Willa Mae Parker; brothers-in-law Aaron Rembert, Lennie Thurmond, John Sechrest, James Clark, Jr., and Arnold Parker; and a host of great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, family members, and friends.

His viewing will take place on Tuesday, April 24th, 10:30a.m. until time of service 12:00noon, Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, MD 20640. Interment Private.
