Travers, Joseph Finderly (Age 87) of Waldorf, Maryland.

Joseph Finderly Travers, affectionally known as "Bunny" peacefully transitioned to eternal life on Saturday, January 14, 2012, at the Charles County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, La Plata, Maryland.

Bunny was born in White Plains, Maryland to George and Bertha (Fenwick) Travers on January 25, 1924, he lived most of his life on Bensville Road in Bensville, MD.

Bunny began working at the age of 13, farming for many years until retiring. Bunny enjoyed cigars and "playing" the guitar, his favorite song was "Me and Mrs. Jones", his favorite dance was the "Funky Chicken". Bunny's favorite sayings……"You better believe it", "You ain't but one monkey, and one monkey don't stop no show". Bunny had a soft heart and was always considerate of others, he enjoyed telling jokes and laughing, he enjoyed walking….he walked everywhere. Bunny will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Bunny was preceded in death by his parents, George and Bertha Travers, his companion, Theresa Woodland and their daughter, Wanda Woodland; sisters, Mamie and Pearline Travers, Mary "Dotsie" Travers Beale, and Emma "Neomia" Travers McKay; brother, Charles "Buster" Travers; nephews, Louis "Bay Boy and Theodore "Puddin" Travers; uncles, Maxwell and Dudley Fenwick, and Roosevelt Briscoe; brothers-in-law, Rev. James B. McKay and Sweeney Beale.

Bunny leaves to cherish in his memory, daughters, Bernice Greenfield, Alma "Peaches" Savoy, Edith Woodland Washington, Phyllis Woodland Johnson and Ann Woodland; sons, Charles, Earl and John Woodland; grandchildren, Yolanda, Joseph, Mario, Rharshi, Brock, Tamaka, Louis III, Travis, Larekia, Ricky, Antwan and Tim; great grandchildren, Malik, Ya'Na, Tyanna, Jayda, Joseph and Najazah; nieces, MaryAnn Travers-Johns, Carolyn Lee, Mary Reed, Shelia Washington, Neomia Bell and Shirley McKay; nephews, Sweeney, Joseph and Purnell Beale, Ferman Travers, Carl Shorter, James and Earl McKay, and many other relatives and friends.

Viewing, 10am until Mass of Christian Burial, 11am on Friday, January 20, 2012 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 4590 St. Joseph's Way, Pomfret, Maryland. Interment, Church Cemetery.
