Ann Elizabeth Brooks Thompson was born on June 4, 1932 in Washington, D.C. to the late Viola Marie Brown Ellerbe. She has always been a faithful and devoted member of the Catholic faith. She attended the public schools of Charles County, Maryland. After graduating from high school, she continued her education at North Carolina A&T College in Greensboro, N.C. where she pledged Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. She was a "Golden Soror", the honor bestowed on those who had membership in Alpha Kappa Alpha for fifty years. Ann had 55 years of distinguished service and membership in her beloved sorority.

On December 10, 1955, Ann was united in holy matrimony to George A. Thompson who preceded her in death on March 14, 1989. Their union was blessed with two sons, Paul and Patrick. She was a very devoted and loving wife and mother.

Ann was employed as a secretary by the Charles County Board of Education in La Plata, Maryland, where she retired after more than 40 years of dedicated service.

Ann was not only a "Golden Soror," of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., but a charter member of Nu Zeta Omega Chapter. She served as the chapter's first secretary and on many of the chapter's committees until her death.

She was a faithful servant of the Sacred Heart Auxiliary #301 of the Knights of Saint John Ladies Auxiliary International for many years. Other memberships included Red Feathers Flappers Chapter of the Red Hat Society, Inez's Golden Keglers Senior Bowling League, and the Pomonkey High School Alumni Association, Inc. In the community, Ann served as a Board Member of the Charles County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for many years. She was currently a Notary Public and an election official with the Charles County Board of Elections.

Ann enjoyed playing Pinochle with the Ladies Club 13. She was a current member of the Kings and Queens Pinochle Club. In addition, she enjoyed bowling, quilting, crocheting, sewing and traveling. She loved to spend time with her family and friends and always willing to help and give service to anyone in need. Ann was loved and cherished by all who knew her.

On Monday, April 16, 2007, Ann departed this life for one eternal at the Civista Medical Center, La Plata, Maryland.

Left to cherish fond and loving memories are her two sons, Paul J. Thompson and Patrick A. Thompson; two daughters-in-law, La Royce Thompson and Joy Thompson; two uncles, Lawrence (Tiger) Brown and Ignatius (Iggy) Cooper; two aunts, Dorothy Brown and Ruth Cooper, sister-in-law, Louise Thompson and a host of relatives, cousins and special friends.

Her Viewing will be held on Friday, April 20th from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Thornton Funeral Home, 3439 Livingston Road (State Route #227) Pomonkey, Maryland and on Saturday, April 21st from 9:00 am until 10:00 am. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 30 Mattingly Avenue, Indian Head, Maryland. Her Interment will be in St. Charles Cemetery, Glymont, Maryland.
