Ann Joan Maggi of La Plata, MD died on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at her residence w/Hospice. She was 78 years old.

Mrs. Maggi was a nurse who worked Med-Surg at Civista (formerly PMH) for 23 years. She was also the private duty nurse of Admiral Fletcher of Indian Head, Maryland. Later in life, Mrs. Maggi rediscovered her love of art and music and was in several Port Tobacco Theater Productions. Mrs. Maggi was a talented artist in many mediums, winning several ribbons at the county fair and holding her own one woman show where all of her pieces were sold.

Ann loved to travel all over the world with her family while her husband was in the Air Force and after his death, continued to travel, taking many cruises all over the world. Mrs. Maggi was very active in her community, singing at many political gatherings as well as lending her voice to several chorus groups in Charles County. She was very active in the Clark Senior Center as well as with the 2n1 Club. In 2006 Ann was chosen as Charles County's Senior Idol winner where she went on to be the second place winner of the Senior Idol for the state of Maryland.

She was a long term member of Sacred Heart Parish and was very active with the Sodality. Mrs. Maggi's rosaries have been sent to all four corners of the world to help fellow Christians. She also was a founding member of the Prayer Shawl Ministry at Sacred Heart Church.

Her face would light up with joy at the sight of her beloved grandchildren Michael (Jenn), Kelly (Dom), Nicole, Brooke, Chelsea, Christopher, Ava Grace and Conner. She held a special place in her heart for her grandsons Ian and Stephen.

Daughter of the late Christopher Moriarity and the late Margaret Quinn Moriarity.

Predeceased by her parents; her husband, William S. Maggi, and one daughter Shannon Ann Maggi.

Survived by two daughters, Gail (Philip) Pannill of Hagerstown, Maryland and Ann Joan Maggi of La Plata, daughter-in-law, Monese Christensen of Silver Spring, Md., two sons, William S. Maggi of Washington DC and Christopher S. (Kim) Maggi of Waldorf. Also survived by 10 grandchildren and 1 brother Thomas Moriarity of Tarrytown, New York and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Thursday, December 8, 2011 from 4-8pm with Wake Service at 7pm at Raymond Funeral Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, Maryland. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 9, 2011 at 10:00 am. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, La Plata, MD. Clergy: Father Mark Smith. Interment: on Monday, December 12, 2011 at 2pm at Maryland Veteran's Cemetery, Cheltenham, Md.
