![]() Francis Wathen Potter Sr. of Hughesville, MD, died on Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Civista Medical Center in La Plata, MD. He was 78 years old.
Mr. Potter was a Heating and Air Condition Mechanic for 40 plus years with Potter Heating in Waldorf, MD and a Veteran of the United States Air Force, having served during the Korean conflict. He is a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bryantown, MD. In his early years, he worked as a Capital Hill Police Officer in Washington, DC. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing pitch, gardening, and most of all being with his grandchildren and family. Son of the late Wathen Cleveland Potter and the late Cora Elizabeth Owens Potter. Predeceased by his parents; his wife of 55 years, Elizabeth Lee Bowling Potter; three brothers, Cleveland, Calvin, and Phillip Potter; and three sisters, Blondell Hammett, Rosalie LeDonne, and Violet Smith. Survived by three sons, Francis W. (Deborah) Potter, Jr., of Mechanicsville, MD, Jos. Steve (Helen) Potter of Long Island, NY, and Larry C. (Sharon) Potter of Mechanicsville, MD; one brother, Lawrence Potter of Ridge, MD. Also survived by 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Visitation: Friday, December 2, 2011 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM with Wake Service at 7PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 11AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bryantown, MD. Clergy: Fr. Rory Conley. Interment: Church Cemetery.
